Chutney is an Indian condiment typically made with fruit and vegetables, herbs, and spices. It usually Serves as a condiment and appetizer. The Popular varieties include mango, plum, onion, Mint, cilantro, and tomato. There are many ways to make Chutney and everyone has their own way of making them. I have made tomato chutney with onions. 

Tomato Chutney is a type of chutney, prepared using tomatoes as the primary ingredient. The tomatoes can be diced, mashed, or pulped, and additional typical ingredients used include ginger, chili, sugar, salt, and spices and additionally onion, garlic for the south Indian version.

This recipe for tomato chutney is one of my favorites. My mom makes a chutney every day. It's easy to make, using simple and basics ingredients and you can use it for 7 to 10 days. It goes well with so many things, like breakfast dishes -sandwiches, pakoras, parathas, and any snacks and with South Indian food like Idli, Dosa, Pongal, Uttapam, Vada and Upma.It has many names like Chutney, easy chutney recipe, homemade chutney, onion chutney, tomato chutney, tamatar chutney, pyaz chutney, chutney recipe, chutney at home.

It is made without a blender. It can be eaten fresh after preparation, stored in a refrigerator, and can be bottled or canned and stored for later use. Try this, It very simple, easy and with a very delicious taste.

Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

  • 3 chopped tomato
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 chopped green chili
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • Salt as per taste
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • leaves Chopped coriander

   Directions: 

  • Wash and cut tomatoes in small size pieces and onion in medium size.

  • Set stove on medium flame, heat oil in a pan, add oil, cumin seeds, coriander powder, salt,garam masala, and chili, stir for about 2 minutes.
    



  • Add chopped onion, chili and tomato, mix well, cover pan with lid, and cook for 15 minutes.
   



  • Add sugar, mix well, and cook for 10 minutes.

   



  • Keep aside for cool add coriander leaves and serve.
